🇨🇦 Why Canadian? When Drunken Chocolatier, Carina Chow, first came to Canada at age five, she had no idea what an ice cream float was and quickly became fascinated by them. (Especially “Black Cows”, the combination of root beer and vanilla ice cream.) She loved the concept so much that her family had to incorporate them into their Chinese tradition of afternoon tea. It’s a perfect example of how immigrant families, in their aim to familiarize their children with their cultural heritage, often have to scramble to include new tastes and ideas that the kids themselves bring to the table. Here, Carina has adapted two of her childhood favourites for the adult palate. 🇨🇦
